"I guess I'm the WORST PERSON in the world!"

"You don't have to GET MAD!" (in response to an even-toned statement of accountability)

"You never told me what I did wrooooooong" said in pathetic wailing voice.

Quote"You never told me what I did wrooooooong" said in pathetic wailing voice.

...when she just got mad about what you DID tell her, repeatedly, and complained that you'd said it over and over. Because she kept asking, I guess thinking she'd get a different answer this time? And getting mad that you're "still saying the same things."

Quote"Your behavior is not in the WORD!" (religion edition)

Well, the Bible also teaches us "provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." yet here we are.

"Expectations are disappointments under construction." ~Capn Spanky, The Nook circa 2005ish

You're just being too sensitive. (or variations of this, seems every PD has one)
That's not what I said/ I didn't say that (also a very common theme)
You never listen to me.
You always think it's MY fault!
It is what it is. (when winning seems unlikely or accountability seems imminent)

Call Me Cordelia

:aaauuugh: "It is what it is," used to get me so mad. You are right, whenever accountability is immanent. "You could get allergy testing done and get an epipen for that anaphylactic reaction so, you know, you don't die." "It is what it is." Also at the end of a long complaining session where it would be completely possible to take steps to improve matters and I try to make those helpful suggestions. Which is the same thing, accountability and responsibility! Nope, does not compute. It is what it is.

blunk

"You twist my words by taking them literally."

"You're too sensitive / can't take a joke."

"If I don't get this out now I'll never be able to sleep." Said on the phone while he was working nights...keeping me up until 4am when I had to get up for work at 6am.

losingmyself

I haven't seen this one..."How do you think I feel???" When confronted with any of the horrible things he said to me or my kids..

moglow

@losingmyself my mother uses that one too. You can't have conversations that differ with her views or feelings, it all goes back to her.

Yup. If I ever dared voice a differing opinion, it was either because I was being influenced by someone else, or just because I wanted to make him mad.

Before I figured out Personality Disorders I knew something was up when my conversations with my mom never seemed to be about topic x - Uhug the traffic today was bad or Boy is it raining here - ElNino I guess.  It always was about "Hoe WONDERFUL Golden Child H is". I would hear that phrase over and over.  Yes then I found out about supply and NPD and that she does not see the world at all the way I do and yes Bingo phrases.  For my dad it was about lipstick.  I wore lipgloss as was the fashion then and he did not approve.  So each time I would see him I would hear that.  Then about the tires.  Check then about the car check.

It hurt somewhat because I was never heard.  The next conversation would not be about the how the rain is this week or is the new route better with the traffic.  Back to the bingo phrases at me

Cat of the Canals

Just discovered a new PDmil bingo topic, which has been there all along, but I only just picked up on it. She'll tell you, "We went out to eat with so-and-so..." and then she recounts what everyone ordered. Every. single. person.

Easily one of her least toxic bingos but so telling of what a hermit she is. She has nothing else to talk about.

Little late but worth the add:

"You're being an asshole" delivered when I respond in a polite and respectful tone.
"No one cares about me"
"I hate my life"
"I have nothing to look forward to"
"You haven't changed in 26 years, nothing ever changes"

I could go on...

Marianne

You are a difficult child.
You are the child, that is the cause of all the problems in the family.
That was a joke, but I know you are not a person that takes jokes well.
That didnt happen.
You are fantasizing/confused/your memory seems to be failing you.
You blame me for everything (after I tell them to please look at their part too, and they tell me all is my fault).
I do not need help, nothing is wrong with me.
You are crazy.
Everyone thinks you are......
Nobody will believe you when you seek help.
If you tell people, you have a big problem.

"You expect perfection/life isn't perfect you know!"
"I just want you to be happy!"
"Being humanitarian, being kind and loving, does not include entrusting my life or well-being to anyone whose intention or unconscious direction is to cause me harm. I am here to enjoy the life that Mother Earth gave me." ~ Ellen Jean Zoltak

Marianne

You forgive me? There is nothing to forgive. (In other words: we were perfect parents).
