Unfortunately, there are also many law enforcement who are narcissists. Did you ever hear the line that a woman can never divorce a police officer? I have one friend who did, and it was terror for her. He was also a narc. And, the police environment in some areas, reinforce narc culture.

Firepoetry - Oh, yes.   Experienced that a bit when my mom was reporting DV when I was a child.   Law enforcement was really unhelpful, in fact made things worse.    Though, as I've had to report Dad and at one time, one of my siblings....the local folks that I dealt with, as an Adult, were much more helpful.   Honestly, they saw the dysfunction from a mile away and dealt with it professionally.   I know my experience won't be the same for everyone, but I was encouraged by how things had changed in how DV is dealt with now vs. my childhood.   Helps that my father's response was so very over the top, that it made his motives super obvious.

JR - Sorry, I missed that.   Your narcs are stealing your stuff.   Treat them like any stranger doing the same property crime.   I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.   Sounds like securing it is the only thing you can do.   They will eventually get the karmic justice they deserve.

the problem with the dealing with Narcs is they are way ahead of normal people when it comes to causing chaos in peoples lives if they feel a slight (mis)perception against them, which calls for retribution against the evil perpetrator. they know how to skirt the justice system and have surrounded themselves which enablers who will go to bat to protect them from punishment due, they have been doing this their whole lives and have no tenets when it comes to telling the truth even to the cops. What we are all dealing with here are toxic, hostile disordered people whom you cut all contact with or keep contact as low as possible to keep peace in your life.

A former friend from high school was a diagnosed Narc. He often used his diagnosis as an excuse to explain his bad and/or strange behavior. Most everyone in our little clique had distanced themselves from him by our 20s. I was the lone holdout until our 30s, with other friends often asking me why I still even associated with him. When he and I had our final falling out, his parting words to me at the end of our 15 year friendship were "You know what I am, what did you expect?" Chilling, but he had a point.

im surprised that this person actually had gotten a diagnosis and admits to being a Narc, usually they believe everyone else has the problem and everyone else needs a diagnosis

Hi.

My mother was 'diagnosed' by a good therapist I had once with NPD. It was a huge thing for me to finally have the 'label' so I know how to behave with her. I put diagnosed in quotes because, T diagnosed her based on the behaviors I said she engages in 90% of the time.
I don;t think any narcissist out there enjoys getting a diagnosis like this because deep down they are perfect.
There is one guy who got the diagnosis and is working in therapy for years to heal the disorder. He is also teaching victims of NPDs how to escape those relationships and heal. But people like him are rare.
