I don't know if you "should" be in contact with your father, or not.  I have no idea.

If you joined your family in NC with your dad....what would that mean, for you?

How does that feel, to contemplate?

Why, in your opinion, do you continue relationship with your father?

Be it rhetorical/answer on the board....Im curious if you're aware of your motivations.

I imagine there's some fear, obligation and guilt involved, but don't know.

Yeh probably 90% fear obligation and guilt to be honest. I can't honestly say any time spent with him is fun or nice ever

Can you tell if the FOG is more about seeking approval or avoiding pain?

What you are speaks so loudly in my ears.... I can't hear a word you're saying.

Difficult to tell. Dad has strange ideas of how the world works and this is one thing that seems to be annoying him - the law thats "ye shall respect your parents because they know everything and will tell you what to do at all times"

Looks like that's your homework then. Figuring out which it is, you seeking approval (that won't come) or avoiding pain (which you can choose not to accept).
