This past week has been straight from hell.  My hot water tank threw a tanty & flooded my entire apartment front to back.  I've spent 4 days in a hotel with shitty sleep from a crap bed, cats who were stressed AF, one who got sick on Friday (she NEVER gets sick so when she's ill I completely stress out), a $300 vet visit & meds later & she's fine, then the other cat is sick with the same symptoms since Saturday so I let it be but now she's earned herself a vet visit because I found mucusy bloody stool, a budget that's blown to smithereens & necessitated a loan from a friend, & a boss who refuses to understand the level of meltdown my life has been since last freakin' Monday afternoon.

From a perma-spinster, I am so thoroughly envious of all you paired up people right now.  I don't have a partner.  I have no one in my life to lean on.  I have cried so, so much since all this happened.  I just need some emotional support.  Someone to tell me it'll be okay.  That my worries are unfounded.  My cats will be okay.  My stresses will soothe.  My life will reassemble itself.  Right now I can't see the forest for all the trees & I am so completely overwhelmed that I can't take much more.

I'm so sorry you are going through all of this! I've moved out of my home and into a hotel with cats before and it is NO FUN! They don't like it, you don't like it, and like you I also get SO stressed when pets are sick! I feel so responsible, like it is all my fault for (whatever, fill in the blank). Plus vet bills!!! Ugh, I really feel for you.

What exactly do you need? What will help you calm down, help you feel safer, give you a little break so you can get back to it with the renewed energy you'll need to handle all this? Whatever that thing is, I hope you can get it!!! In the meantime, it seems like you know what the cats have, so hopefully that can reassure you that they will get better. Hopefully your needing time off to cope with the crisis will blow over at work, your boss will forget or at least not have this situation as an excuse to be insensitive! And over time, when things are calmer, you'll be able to address the expenditures and get your budget and finances stable once again. You don't sound like someone who's in permanent crisis so I have complete faith you'll put your life back together given the slightest chance.

Take the best care of you that you can while you're dealing with so much!

I am so sorry daisy girl. This is a lot to take on. Please remember that this is temporary and it will pass. I totally get the stress about your furry children. But you are doing everything you can about them and, yes, they will be fine! Can you lean on friends for support just now? Ask them to help with little things perhaps, just to take the edge off? Keep writing to us here xx

I wish I could pour you a cuppa and serve you some cookies.  I can't imagine being in a hotel room with cats that were well and I am sorry your boss doesn't get it.

nobody EVER needs this kind of mess and having it happen at the holidays where many of us are in more in a state of flux bc of either stuff actually going on with the uPD in our lives or dealing with the blowback of PTSD/CPTSD from our experiences, which only compounds what would already be a stressful situation to begin with.

I hope both you and the kitties are feeling better today.

Hi DaisyGirl,

I wish this 'virtual' support could do more but hopefully this does help to hear from us here. We hear you. You've been taking care of your cats during a terribly stressful time, being sent out of our own home like this, unexpected and at this time of year is incredibly stressful and I do hope you're able to get back into your home soon if you are not back there already.

Hey, Daisy Girl, good on you for asking for support!  If you're like many of us, that's no small feat.  I hope things look up soon!

My life hasn't been this awful in years, quite frankly, & I'm begging all the gods to stop.  I need my life to return to its quiet peace.

I've dropped almost $700 in vet visits & meds on both my cats in 4 days (Friday, the day my cats & I were permitted back home, & Tuesday).  Yesterday I woke up to a kitchen sink that drained slowly & backfilled itself before slowly sucking it back down into the sewer system.  It took maintenance 3 hours & a power plunger (a plunger with electrical oomph behind it) to dislodge the clog somewhere down the line & allow all the apartments in my building to drain freely again.  *sigh*

I still haven't heard from the maintenance manager with the info on how to be reimbursed for my expenses & I've contacted him in all the ways I know how in this past 1.5 weeks.

I also noticed for the first time that the attic hatchway is deeply discolored with water stains.  Another call to emergency maintenance later (because the "wait & see" method isn't part of my language right now when it concerns my house, lol)...I learned this was known & caused by the humid swamp my house turned into while I was gone.

I'm still finding new things to clean.

I'm so tired.  & so happy & relieved that I'm on vacation for the next week so I have space to breathe without work/my boss breathing down my neck.  I scheduled this several months ago.  Serendipitous timing.

Thank you for all the support.  I've actually returned & read all of your words repeatedly since I made this post.  It means a great deal.
