"Emotional Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman

This is a fantastic book written by a journalist & psychologist Daniel Goleman. It explains, in layman's terms, the different sections of the brain and how the emotional mind is connected, yet separate from, the intellectual mind.  The book explains how our emotions have evolved to get our attention quickly, while our more rational mind is slower but tends to make more rational judgments. This explains how we humans sometimes "react without thinking" to situations.

Daniel Goleman then draws for us an outline for how to deal more effectively with this reality. If we can develop a self-awareness of how we are feeling and why, it helps us to regulate those feelings. If we can develop a social awareness of how others around us are feeling, and why, it helps us to work more effectively with others.

This is a great read for understanding, without judgement, how some people with PD's may be controlled by their emotions and it also explains how we, as Non-PD's, can control our own reactions to emotional situations.

Thanks a bunch for posting this!  I love, love this book!  I have read it several times.  I think it speaks well to many of the issues we address on here!

Personally, I think the world would be a better place if a class on this was offered in High School.

I would like to see this taught in high school as health and well-being class.  I agree that the information could be a tool box, but I did a get a bit bogged down with some of the technical parts and I love science.  This could also be a testament to my personal fog.  I will definitely reread this book thanks to your endorsements.
