This has been posted elsewhere on the forum over time, but wanted to link to this article by Claire Diaz-Ortiz that has some really handy ways to decline or say "No". It has been helpful to me to put a few of these goodies in my back pocket and handy for when I need them. Here the link:

And here are a few of my favorites:
5. No thanks, I won't be able to make it.
27. I'm not the girl for you on this one.
54. I'm not taking on anything else right now.

And a few of my own that take out that Thank you for thinking of me or I would love to, but... or maybe next time part of it... when I want a simple, honest, straightforward no to an more entitled, persistent and manipulative type...

I won't be able to do that.
That doesn't work for me.
That is over my pay grade... out of my wheelhouse...skill set... ability to do.
I am unable to help you with that.

i love this!  they work at my workplace too!  i've been known to use the paygrade one when i have to call on things that are so delicate that they are best heard from someone with more authority than me.
