If you've been reading my posts you've seen that I had put forth boundaries, expectations and made my stand recently.
You've also seen that my previous posts involved my husband really seeming to be willing to do the work, go to therapy etc.
I thought we'd turned a corner.
Yesterday the police arrested him and he is in very serious trouble which I cannot share here. I will say this, though:
NPDs can gaslight you so much, so gradually that you no longer have the capacity to grasp reality or trust your gut. I was NOT crazy. I was NOT delusional or dramatic etc. my gut so was dead on, in fact, that the timing of this arrest was eerie.
Even though I've seemingly been pulled from the fog there are moments when I'm here worried if he's ok and mourning my marriage.
If this is you, it's ok to be sad, to mourn it, to love the person.... trauma bonding is real and emotional abuse, especially when it involves someone who is an EXCELLENT LIAR, can really mess you up.
I need therapy. Deeply traumatized here. Doing my best and trying to take care of me and mIy daughter. Also relieved, though.

Oh, Holly, I hope you and your daughter are ok.
I will be thinking of you and hoping for the best!

I am sorry that you are going through this!!! It is so so hard when we see the good side in people and truly love them and we do not pay so much attention to the other sides to them. I know our brains protect us too- sometimes seeing the truth about the person we love is so painful (especially when there has been abuse) so our brain "protects" us by keeping us in a warm, cozy denial.
You will get through this. Take care of yourself and utilize all of your support systems. *hugs*
