Every year this memory pops up. It's sort of triggering for me.
This was one of the more recent incidents that really got me thinking something was very wrong with Updh.
He had been complaining about ds clothing choices...Jr in hs, black heavy metal shirts mostly. Insisting that ds need to dress more like an adult. I took ds shopping for clothes to wear for college visits, interviews, school events. Did not choose preppy or old man styles like Updh. More.... Hipster maybe?
Ds had an important exciting school event one weekend, and while dressing up was not required I asked him specifically to wear newer nicer clothes (to please Updh).
Ds was ready to go and looked great. Updh flipped out about what he was wearing. So confusing. Made him change into a dress shirt and tie. I dropped ds off at the event, came home, Updh was still seething. Waiting for me to return so he could yell at me. Told me angrily that he was 'bull'!
After much raging and being so mad that I did not get what the issue was, he said ds looked 'gay' that the outfit was 'gay'. Me: how so? I honestly could not see it.
He stormed off... Came back, asked to see the shirt. I showed him. He kept insisting it was gay. 'how?' I asked.
Updh: it has 2 pockets on the front. It's too symmetrical.

*Sigh* in my mind Updh has ruined an otherwise exciting day for ds. Also it was one day before my bday.
I remember thinking, this is insane... He is crazy... This makes no sense.
And he berated me because I couldn't agree with him.
Every year my posts on FB about the event remind me of that incident.
I think that was the year that I removed my bday from fb. I was in such a horrible place that I couldn't even handle getting the greetings on FB the next day
:sadno:

I'm sorry you have an annual reminder of a rage day.
I think we all have those.
Maybe doing something nice for yourself today will offset some of the hurt.
Hugs.

I am so very sorry that you have to deal with that!

What I have done is to remove my wife, her daughter, my wife's relatives, and my wife's friends as my Facebook friends, because there have been times that my wife would make bad comments about my posts, that I am so-called bragging. I have said and everyone knows me to be the case that I don't brag. I am a giver, a helper, and when my family, friends, and students are happy, I am glad for them. It has nothing to do with me. It is happiness for them and for what they have been able to accomplish.

Again, our significant others are so very selfish and are bullies that hurt others in one way or another.

I spent some time deleting old Facebook posts to prevent situations like this.

I eventually cleared out every single post from when I was married as I realized my ex managed to taint every single occasion with his PD behavior.

FB is a much more pleasant place for me now.

That is really bs. Clothes are just clothes, I'm sure DS looked amazing in both outfits. I bet he looked amazing in his black tees. Who cares.
DD's public high school was oddly lax about dress, and so long as you didn't have sex, foul language, or alcohol on your clothing, you could wear most whatever. She had variously colored hair (electric blue, salmon pink, other colors), she wore shorts with fishnets and boots, like steampunk, which updh just FREAKED about. I mean, it was and is pretty much just one wig flip after another.
I say you get rid of that crap. You guys are GOOD FOLKS and don't need that negativity overshadowing you.
