Bad news and good news

Poison Ivy

The bad news is that I realized the other day that my employment relationship (same employer for more than 30 years) feels like my marriage, which ended in divorce 5 years ago. The good news is that my ex-husband is the first person in my "family" to be fully vaccinated, and I'm happy for him.

#1
Step 1: Realize what sparks joy in your life
Step 2: Try to Amend those things that do not
Step 3: Discover alternatives to those things that cannot be amended
Step 4: Vet, decide, and execute the changes needed

Sounds like you are on step 1 at work, realizing something isn't good enough. It's amazing, isn't it, how we can suddenly find that this has happened to us? I'm glad you've spotted the issue, and I hope it can be fixed without trauma.

Good luck!

It interesting that you point out that your employer relationship is similar to your past marriage. I have noticed that my sister's work relationship reminds me a lot of our childhood, as in I feel she is repeating an unhealthy pattern.

What helped you to realize this? And the first step to change something is noticing it. I am glad you were able to see the similarities.

I used to say I wouldn't be buried to next to my job.  Kind of a reminder of where my priorities laid.  30 years is a long time.  For employment, marriage - anything.  Congratulations.  Quite an accomplishment.

But then you said it's bad news.  So perhaps 30 years too long.  And then you ask the question, now what?  That is hard.  Admirable that you see it as bad - you now have the power to change.

Congratulations on the vaccine!
