I don't know where to begin. I just don't have anything left anymore.
History
— I am SC, narcs were/are mother, brother, SIL, aunt, and her two daughters
— I was really close to my mom until my NGCB and NSIL started fking around with the trust and everyone started lying to me about it.
— I knew something was going on but I didn't know what. I finally went LC about 6 years ago

Since then my NGCB has systematically manipulated a nearly 1.3 million dollar inheritance into his and his wife's name only disinheriting me.

I had an attorney who took the case but found out today that he is ill, in the hospital and the firm is just kind of dumping me saying take a $20K settlement (of which I only get 2/3rds of course) or find another attorney.

I am so depressed I just don't want to get out of bed. It's so insulting. My NB is going to get away with this theft, fraud and downright evil behavior (Think left leaning Trump and you will know my brother) and will suffer no consequences while I am left with nothing. There is so much to this story, I can't even begin to write it all.

I just don't know how my family could do this to me. And I find now that so many things were in the works even before I went LC, and it was their interference that destroyed my relationship with my mom, then they preyed on it to manipulate her into doing anything they said, not that she wasn't a sick fk herself.

To top it off, he smeared me to my entire family, all of whom look at him like a god (again, think Qanon and Trump) and never once asked me what was going on. They just shunned me, so all I have is my husband and my cats.

I'm just having the hardest time working (I run my own business alone) and feel like my whole life has been a lie. I feel like the worst someone can do is take away your hopes and dreams and that's what they've done.

When my mom died May 5, 2020, I got a text telling me. I don't know if she's cremated or buried, I don't even know if she died of COVID.

I don't know how to deal with this much pain from the betrayal and the complete understanding that my mom never loved me at all. All of it was a lie. I gave up having a life taking care of her emotional needs my entire life until six years ago. I never even had my own family because she brainwashed me into thinking I was only supposed to take care of her. The depth of the betrayal of all of this from everybody is so beyond anything I've ever been though and I just don't know how to process it. The hurt is unbearable. And now I feel I may have to kowtow to their unbelievable insulting offer.

Part of me feels like fine, it would just be over and they would all be out of my life forever, but the feeling of giving in to the same insulting treatment of me that I spent my whole life suffering is so triggering I just can't fathom it.

I've never felt so much anger and hate in my heart for anyone as I do for my family right now. All of them. I feel like they are Fukajima and I have to suffer with the lifelong effects of the toxic nuclear waste. I don't know how to process this much pain. I just feel done.

Thank you for listening.

I know that visceral rage and anger so well. It almost knocked me off my feet last week when me uNPD aunt finally kicked the bucket  (hope I am allowed to say that).   I am sure more experienced members will offer you great advice on how to get through this but just wanted you to know you are not alone in experiencing this.

I have been there.  And the feeling of powerlessness is awful.

The injustice of it all makes you extremely angry.

I know it is difficult, but you have to set it aside.  If you had an actual case before, you still have one now, irrespective of how lazy the replacement lawyer might be (I am actually astonished they are suggesting a $20k payout as you can make a legal complaint (to the professional organisation that covers them) against them for giving you bad legal advice).

Took almost 4 years, and help from my wife (she is a lawyer) to get my fathers inheritance that he left for me.  My upDM and UpDsis had been hell bent on keeping the money, and not giving me my share (my mother unfortunately was the executor as well).

So yes, it can be done but there will be many ups and downs.

My suggestion is to start researching new lawyers and make a list of the documents you need from the lawyers (they are yours after all).

This type of cases are very grinding based on my observations.

It helps (a lot) to have your partner on board.  I used to talk my wifes ear off for years about my feeling on the matter, and over time this helped me a bit.

I hope I'm not out of line by asking, but why bother wasting your valuable time and resources fighting with your narc brother over your narc mother's estate? Before I went LC with my father, I had to make peace with the fact that my sisters would would get everything. It feels weird to admit, but money was the only reason I could come up with to stick around and object myself to his toxicity. Like you, my inheritance would have been in the 7 figure range, but in the end, I came to realize that just getting away from him and the rest of my shitty family was priceless. The day I learned my father passed away was the darkest day of my life, but I still knew I was right to walk away. I mourned him for what could have been and felt deeply angry for what never was, but his money was the furthest thing from my mind at that point. No amount of money could ever make up for having him as a father.
