Draining day

Had a day off. Appointment for car repair. Updh has a minor meltdown over my not having cleared his cereal bowl in a timely manner 
Then of course needs to discuss it further and lecture me. My mc drives him nuts. He doesn't know what to make of it. Comments that my stoic face doesn't tell him what I'm thinking/feeling. Then admits that he doesn't want me to cry or yell at him (things I would do pre-mc) but doesn't know what he wants exactly.
Later he apologizes (after I've been out all morning with my own thoughts, wondering if this is the day I'll go home and just tell him I'm done and leaving).
As is often the case he tells me that the problem is he's frustrated by other things and taking it out on me, so then I sit and listen to him unload his stress for an hour or so. The final item being that he's concerned about fil not getting vaccinated. He's looking for a solution. I told him if he truly does not want to, we cannot force him but if he wants to and needs help scheduling I'm happy to assist him. Updh calls fil, turns out fil asked sil to help and she would not. 
He happily gave us his health info so I can help him.

Well done! Seems you are getting stronger. You MC the cereal bowl story, you behaved maturely in the vaccination situation. From what you describe here, you are more in control. You are on a good path. I hope you went to bed the time you wanted and had a good night's sleep. You deserved that as a reward.

Great job MCing and being the voice of reason in dealing with FIL! It's amazing how they can act so helpless...he really can't clear a cereal bowl from the table? Can you trust him to pour the milk on his own?

Sorry to make light, but I do remember my xh being that kind of helpless in some situations. Yet, he would frequently tell me how much better he was at [whatever task] than I was, unless it was something that he didn't want/like to do...then I was the best at it.

I'm sorry your day was so exhausting, I hope that you were able to get some well earned rest!

Why couldn't he take care of the 'appointment for car repair' and clear his own cereal bowl ?  You sound like you need a break.
