This is verrrrry similar to my mother as well.
My childhood friend KNOWS, though. Her mother has ISSUES as well, and we collaborate about The Mothers.
The Mothers are not in contact with each other, but they admire each other very much. Of course they do.
Her mother used to say horrible crap about me, but my mother used to hold my friend up as Someone To Aspire To. Of course we laughed about this, because.....we were doing somewhat untoward things behind their backs????? Now that bestie has a doctorate and has been to places I'd LOVE to go, many times, so she really IS Someone To Aspire To, but bah. She comes and takes me to spas and stuff and to the beach so!
