Want to share good news with my Out of the FOG family

I found my way here after a second disastrous, but thankfully short, relationship with a very disordered man. That was about three years ago. Since then, I have worked and healed and am in a much, much better place emotionally and cognitively. I am still struggling occasionally  with the relationship between myself and my mother but mostly it's fine and I am managing well, with a little help from my friends here.

What I wanted to say is that I just landed a job for a local DV charity as a child support worker. I have been volunteering for them since last Xmas, and picked up a small amount of paid work for two months as well. They invited me to apply for a full time job recently and I put my heart and soul into the application but didn't get it as they found someone with more relevant experience. (My professional background is in teaching) These things happen but I was gutted. Then, ten days later, I got a call from the boss saying they had got some extra funding and can create two jobs and would I please consider accepting it!!!!

You can imagine my joy.

So here I am, in my early sixties, about to work with children who are in the same lousy situation I was in all those years ago. And I can help. Wow.  It's immense is what it is!

I am happy for you and hope you will find fulfillment in this new role.  I believe that the difficulties we suffer and endure in life will count for something.  This might be your something where you can impart some encouragement to others from your life experiences.
