More and more I'm feeling like uPDh has traits of several different PDs
He checks most boxes for OCPD
He has some BPD and some NPD traits which I've recognized for a while  (Fear of abandonment, mood swings, explosive anger) (arrogance, demanding, extremely unhappy when things don't go his way, sense of entitlement, reacts negatively to criticism and to being told what to do by ANYONE)
I'm realizing though that he has avoidant traits as well
And then there's dependent PD.....this one is very odd as he is mostly very controlling/bossy. Yet, with certain things he takes an approach that he doesn't want to actively participate in managing his own life. Everything is just too much for him, someone else should do it. However he is NOT submissive or timid - the opposite. And gets aggressively angry if I refuse to help him or do something for him.

I've thought he had dependent traits too, despite, as you say, his dominating personality. I perceive that deep down he feels helpless without you.

Dunno about the avoidant part, can't quite remember the traits.

He sounds like he has a very weak sense of self. See Wobbler ATTACHMENT. Both Clinger/Avoidant/Secure

Very unstable early life care.

I had a recent conversation with a long time, now retired psychologist about the 'comorbidity' of PD's and other psychological disorders .  This gentleman told me that because of these crossovers in the particular clusters, it's very difficult to ascertain one specific diagnosis, so in some cases, the diagnosis's can only be accurately done by assigning certain medicines and in trial and error, the results of the medicines (positive, negative or neutral effect) will indicate to the doctors, what they may be dealing with, but that comorbidity is common in these disorders.

I'm certainly not educated on the subject, but passing along what I was told.  If there are some here that are medically educated on the subject that can validate or invalidate these statements, please provide that information, so I/we can be as well informed as possible.

Proverbs 17:1
A meal of bread and water in peace is better than a banquet spiced with quarrels.

2 Timothy 1:7
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Proverbs 29:11
A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.

Hazy, interesting. I'll try to read up on that. I've pieced together some stuff about Updh early life... His sister was born less than a year after him. Subsequently sounds like his mom may have had post partum depression or something. However he did have a grandmother and great aunt at home who cared for him...

Well, I guess that's why the DSM includes, "Personality Disorder: Not Otherwise Specified."

Your H sounds like a piece of work, to put it nicely. That's quite a grouping but I think it's quite common to have multiple PDs/traits of various ones. My own father strongly fits NPD, BPD, and OCPD, with a good number of ASPD traits. My mother fits more than one category as well, in my admittedly armchair psych opinion. She has dependent traits as well as N ones.
