Just listening to the radio and the inane ramblings of a couple of narcs and one says "My greatest fear is to die in a plane crash and there is someone more famous on board because they would get more publicity"

😆.  Yes, truly everyone's worst nightmare!  Facing mortality in such a horrible way is the least of it.  It's the horror of facing one's "ordinary-ness" that's so terrifying.

Lol, Chris Moyles, the UK Radio DJ used to talk about this.

Although, to be fair to him, when he was talking about it, he had recently been on a plane that had David Beckham, Gordon Ramsay and Gary Barlow on it, and if it had crashed, he would have been way down the list.
Even though he made a joke about it, I do wonder if it was a genuine concern, because he can be full of self-importance sometimes.

"Never turn right when you get on a plane" was another of his "Jokes".

If there's publicity of any sort surrounding your death... why would you even care? You're DEAD. Even if you believe in an afterlife, you really think you'll spend it checking your social media following or whatever?

That's why my husband's narc-est of them all grandfather wouldn't move out of his small town. His wife was seriously declining and he wasn't doing so hot either, so he just let things get worse and expected my UNMIL to manage everything from 1000s of miles away. But he was IMPORTANT there, and in a facility or even in another place closer to MIL he would be just another old guy. He would move once he achieved national fame.

  Wooooow. That's a whole new level of being in love with yourself. Well, I did have a good laugh out of it, which I needed today. Excellent timing.

I've got to agree though. In what version of reality do they think they're going to care about how people react to the news of their death? Oh, yes, in PDland it matters. Priorities are seriously messed up there.

No Simon it wasnt him but definitely sort of thing he would say, but was UK based .Radio is a brilliant job for a narc. Transmit all day long about themselves.

Reminded me of an old UK TV comedy sketch about two aging narc DJs (Smashy and Nicey) talking and one telling the other  how his mom had just died and hed been to her grave .

Cut to an enormous gravestone (with him fake sobbing  beside)  which said in enormous letters DAVE SMASH'S and in tiny letters "mum".      Even in the death of another person  its really all about them.
