Hi,

I came across this website whilst searching for community forums to gain some insight into what personality disorder my sister might have- My family suspected BPD, but with more research and her specific symptoms it seems like PPD. Hopefully I can get some support and resources as to how my family can I can help my sister get some help  :)

Welcome. You are not alone.

I presume that PPD refers to paranoid personality disorder.

There is a web page about it on WebMd

https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/paranoid-personality-disorder

I have an undiagnosed BPD/NPD sister. I'm not exactly sure what she should be diagnosed with as I'm not a mental health professional. She has often been histrionic, hysterical, paranoid and delusional.

She has often been in a highly fearful state feeling frightened, threatened and scared. She would sometimes visit me shaking uncontrollably and would collapse on the floor in a foetal position.

She would often shout at me and threaten to harm herself. All I know is that I care but can't cope any more with her extremely abusive behaviour. I haven't contacted her for over two years and never want to see her ever again. I've reached my limit.

I define my sister as my abuser and that I am her target of abuse.

Abusers are all about power and control.

As much as I want to help and understand my sister I realise now that I can't change anyone else's behaviour. I can only change and control my own.

I need to take care of myself and put my needs first. I do not do idiot compassion any more.

I have given over the responsibility of her care to the mental health professionals where it belongs. I am not responsible for her welfare. She seems to think that I am and that it's OK for her to keep on abusing me. I have set firm boundaries to protect my own mental and physical health and wellbeing.

My golden rule is to stay calm no matter what happens.

Observe don't absorb.

Keep calm. Stay strong. Stay safe. Keep posting.
