Well my spouse's newest thing is the roe v wade debate. Its all linked together with the "passion" of her "passion" for politics. She started with the politics thing  with the trump/biden election. It was over the top, on january 6th it put her over the edge, she never was into social media, actually criticized me for the amount of time i spent on facebook, but now since january 6th she has tweeted over 3,000 tweets. She is convinced that our culture is going to be the handmaids tale series soon. I told her to stop thinking so deep, that the show is just a show, i was told maybe i should start thinking deeper, that this is who she is. I cant even have a normal conversation about anything in the world, it turns into a lecture ugh i cant.

I have lost many friends over the years when they became hyper political and partisan.

I am the type that enjoys political discussions because I like to see what other people are thinking about the topics and why.  I like discovering viewpoints I had not co soldered because It makes me a better big picture thinker and gives me compassion and empathy for the people with various political leanings.  I don't want to "other* the others.

Some very partisan folks don't tolerate this at all.  I have had to discontinue contact with people after they were calling me to chat then later yelling" you people" or something like that over the phone without having given me a change to express my thoughts on the topic.

I have come to learn that outrage is addictive and it's the fuel that drives social media.

I myself criticized people for their social media overdosing only to find myself later sitting on the couch going from news site to news site looking for something outrageous to spark life into my bored existence.  This then gave me perspective and compassion for those caught up in it all as I had drank at the same fountain.

I am sorry you are being sidelined for this garbage.  What would happen if we all unplugged and just got back to living and loving and making love.

Man, I don't know what would happen. But I wouldn't mind trying to find out.
