Dr Ramani said to acknowledge and celebrate even the smallest of our accomplishments, and who better to share them with, than you all? So....
-I listen to Kris Godinez, and she always says to greet yourself in the morning in the mirror. Mirror work, she calls it. I have been doing that, I will confess, it was SUPER AKWARD at first. If I ever said anything to myself in the mirror, it was not nice things. I feel like it helps, and it's become much less weird. And I do it more often.
-Yesterday was father's day, and neither one of my kids said a peep to H. Not even a text. We even saw DS the night before and he didn't say anything. Usually, this would send me into a panic, worried about what he'd say to me, how he'd project his bad feelings onto me, and if they said anything he'd accuse me of telling them they had to. This year, I felt bad for him, I really did, because I don't think he really understands how the way he treated them and me affects how they feel about him now. That being said, I didn't worry about it. They are all grown adults, and I won't be involved in their relationships. Not my place. He never said anything to me about them the whole day. I told him once in the morning happy father's day, then that was it. Let it go...
-The other day we were walking into a store, going across the parking lot, there were people, and he just reaches over and grabs my boob. Really?? I brushed his hand away and when he asked what was wrong, I said " Maybe have a little respect for your wife" I think I surprised him because he didn't reply. So I thought that was a good comment. Also, I was angry and embarrassed. I am a 56 year old woman! I think I'm past the age of that being cute. If it ever was, I think it's just disrespectful.
So, those are my accomplishments!
I would love to hear more

Father's Day-related accomplishments: I participated in a videochat with my adult children and their dad (my ex), but I deferred to them to set it up. Both felt like positives.

Yay Poisonivy!
I have a couple edits: First, I spelled awkward incorrectly. Drives this spelling-bee kid crazy! So, there, I fixed that.
Also, the word that Dr Ramani used was victories! That's what I should have put in the subject line!
And, I just listened to her on youtube this morning, and she has a very good video about fathers  and the complicated relationships we can have with them. Worth a listen.

A few weeks ago, I bought a lawn mower for the first time. It's not the first time I've mowed; until now, I borrowed a mower from my brother, who lives nearby. But I decided that I no longer wanted to go through the hassle (for both of us) of arranging the "borrowings" and loading the mower into and out of my car. I observed "No-Mow May" and then, on May 31, saw an ad on Craigslist for a used machine and bought it that afternoon. It felt a little scary going to a stranger's home, but everything went fine.
