How To Handle This

I'm so tired of feeling like I don't belong and the outsider with my two kids. It was my sons birthday yesterday and my ex and I made a dinner for him and had mostly my family over. His cousins and a few friends. He's an adult and turned 27. He asked to have a family dinner and birthday cake which is the only time my ex and I get together amicably.
I went over in the morning and brought him a present. He wasn't there yet so I put it on the table with the rest of the gifts from his sister and his father. My ex was at work so I figured he would open his presents later when we were all together.
I came over later to help get the dinner ready and noticed all the presents were gone off the table so I asked where they were and he said oh we FaceTimed with dad and opened gifts and cards. Hmmm I didn't even know what to say. I was so hurt and wanted to leave. But I kept going and got through the night as I would never make a scene and ruin his day.  It's not about the opening of presents it's the being excluded and never thought of. Is this being petty?
I always feel like I'm some interloper in my kids lives. My daughter also, she's taking a class in order to apply for Nursing school. Yesterday everyone knows she took her last exam and she did great and got a 98.  Even my ex got a text from her. Me, nothing, I hear it from her cousin. They have a cousins group chat and he happen to be sitting next to me at the beach. I ask her about her class, which I paid for and she just says fine with this snippy voice, like I annoy her.
I have to say something to my son. I'm not letting this slide. He's an adult and should know better. But like I asked am I being unreasonable for feeling like this?

I don't think you're being unreasonable.

I sounds painful. Maybe your feeling is correct?
I can't hate my way into loving myself.

I think that if you felt left out, then you felt left out.
At 27, adult son may benefit from some calm feedback.
"When I was left out of opening gifts, my feelings were hurt,"
He may not realize. Or maybe he does. He response may help to figure that out.
I've cried a thousand rivers. And now I'm swimming for the shore" (adapted from I'll be there for you)

Sorry to hear that - I don't think you are unreasonable.  I would agree that you need to say something, if for just your peace of mind and sanity.  It's not a resentment to hang on to

Indie talk to my son, and expressed that I was a little sad they opened gifts. And I mentioned they opened gifts while FaceTiming his father. He said I must of heard wrong, no they didn't FT him they just opened gifts on their own, him, sister and his girlfriend.
Though I don't think I was wrong. Ex would of been furious that son would do that. Think he did FT and said that to cover up with a lie.
They won't cross him.
