Apologies if this one has already been posted here in the past, but it's such a fantastic metaphor it's probably worth a reminder. 

[How many of us who came from a dysfunctional FOO were repeatedly told 'don't rock the boat'?
I know my siblings and I were repeatedly told this by my enF so as to make his life easier.
And then he and my uBPD/N mother told me and a couple of siblings not to rock the boat when my uPDSIL came on the scene, to the extent that they put her wishes first at all times (unsurprisingly, I guess, since she is after all the partner of unPD GC bro).
And finally, my enFIL is renowned for saying the same about my uN MIL.]

Makes me think there must be a veritable armada of crazily rockin' and probably not very seaworthy warships out there!

Wouldn't it be great if they'd just board one massive ocean liner and sail off over the horizon!
