I had my first acupuncture appointment today. H is livid and making nasty remarks about how mental I am and stupid, this is all fake.

But....it was amazing. I felt like a brand new, energized person after. Lighter somehow.
Many years ago I began this odd habit (if you can call it that...I had zero warning or control over it). When my H would attack me verbally I would suddenly begin this uncontrollable trembling, so bad that my teeth would chatter and it would become so violent it felt like I imagine a seizure would.
During the needling this suddenly happened and went on for about a minute. When it was finished I felt this incredible release. I cannot even describe it!!
So...laugh if you want. Hoax or not. Complete mental case or not. I'm going back next Friday.

Good for you, Jpmom!  Ya know, some people need to be on an information diet, what they don't know they can't mock. Your h may be one of them. If he can't be encouraging then maybe he doesn't need to know. What's important is you taking better care of yourself.

I went back to accupuncture after injuring my arm and it's been an amazing healing journey...... my accupuncture guy can go right into the pain with his needles, on the opposite side of my body from the injured arm.... and work on it as I sit there.  He'll come back after a while and ask me to move my arm....identify the pain..... move the needles around which feel like an electric shock being administered, then the pain will change and move around and reduce once I've left and notice what's changed.

He's worked on my lower back and left hip recently with good efffect.

I have to say, seeing a very agressive practitioner isn't for everyone.  This guy wants his patients to get the most out of every session and that's why I go to him.  If I want a gentle touch, I'll go to another practitioner.

If you have fear around needles, ask for the little ones covered in silicone.  They hurt less, but supposedly do the same thing.

What you are speaks so loudly in my ears.... I can't hear a word you're saying.
