CN MIL did the same.....that little device could have saved her.  She honestly believe that a tiny button device was too much to carry around or wear as a necklace.  It was too late by the time family came to her...

Yeh with Dad its the cost. £140 a year I think which is nothing.... He has no grip on reality when it comes to money he just focuses on not spending any.

I went away the other weekend for santa sleepover. Nice hotel in theme park, santa visit, park access, evening meal, water park. It wasnt cheap - £500. So Dads badgering me - no way am I telling him. So I told him Oh abut £100.

He nearly fell off his chair "HOW MUCH?" That daylight robbery!!!!!!!!!

This is how he is. To be honest the Holiday Inn Express the night before cost £70 lol.... He has no idea at all.

"you must have time you sit at home tapping a few keys!"  :stars:

I've heard that one before! My mom chose to characterize my and my husband's jobs that way during one of the busiest most stressful times of our adult life. If looks could kill, she would have been a goner.

It's your money or your life, dad.  :spaceship:

Can honestly say I do not care now. If he drops dead its his fault.....

I think that when CN MIL handed over her life alert device to DH that he decided he had done all he could.  It actually costed nothing since it only would have sent a text notification to his phone.  The device itself was only a very small cost as there was no subscription fee.  As I said before, she was discovered too late after her medical crisis and that led to her quick death.  Returning the device could have been her way of saying that she was ready to go...it was probably a month from the time she returned the device to DH to the time of her medical crisis.

You've done all you can, p123.  You can't save your father from himself.  I'm glad you're making peace with that reality and turning away from the worry he'd like to embroil you in.

What you are speaks so loudly in my ears.... I can't hear a word you're saying.

Poison Ivy

I spent the day after Christmas with my mother, who still lives in her own house but is only able to do so because she has someone living with her (almost always my sister; I was subbing for the day). Mom has increasing short-term memory loss, among other issues. But she had saved up her mental capacity to explain to me, in an offended tone, why she would not use the small bins I bought for her to put her medications in. She demonstrated to me her system, prefaced by, "I can't remember whether I've taken them yet today." Yes, accidental (or intentional) overdose is something I'm concerned about, but Mom's statements and behavior indicate to me that I'm not responsible if she screws up.
