I am a 58 year old man, married for 38+ years, have two grown children and grandchildren. I am also the son of a clinically diagnosed mother with b-polar and BPD. My step-father is an alcoholic. Both have been diagnosed as having narcicistic disorders.

I grew up in a horribly dysfunctional house with physical, mental, emotional and verbal abuse. As the eldest of my siblings, I took on too many parental roles as a child.

My mother and step-father are now in their late 70's and their behaviors have only become more profound. My mother unilaterally quite taking her diabetic medications and managing her health and has suffered the consequences. My step-father is now in terminal decline for alcoholism. I attempted to assist them and was treated horribly.

In consultation with my wife and son (medical doctor), I have gone no-contact with them. I will no longer allow their behaviors to influence the stable and heappy life I have. I have also cut off my siblings, who are enablers.

Welcome. You are not alone.

I can relate to much of what you posted about.

I have an undiagnosed BPD/NPD sister. I call her my abuser and I am her target of abuse.

It takes courage to go no contact. I haven't had contact with my sister for three years.

You may like to follow the counsellor and author Kris Godinez. She specialises in Narcissistic Abuse Syndrome and shows how targets of abuse can cope better.

Her YouTube channel is called "We Need To Talk with Kris Godinez".

It's OK to put your needs first.

Keep calm. Stay strong. Stay safe. Keep posting.

Welcome. It takes a lot to go NC however badly you have been treated by these people. I wish you strength and healing.
