Hi,
I have an adult daughter that has some kind of personality disorder where it appears she craves attention by medical professionals and surgeries.  It is a very long story, but I am just trying to survive another round of how medical issues morph into mental health issues, and then suicidal actions.  We have dealt with these issues for about 15 years, and it is just so hard to have someone to talk to about how I am feeling.  The first session resulted in a medically induced drug addiction, and many stays is psych wards as well as attempts at suicide.  I ended up having a heart attack, and I think it was from stress.  Am I in the right place here asking for help?  I don't know where to turn.
Thank you.

Hello sosotired,

A very warm welcome to you, to Out of the FOG.   Im so very sorry to read about the difficulties both you and your adult daughter experience, regarding your daughter's medical and mental health, as well as your physical and mental health struggles, as a result.

Out of the FOG members are a kind, caring, empathetic group of people who share their experiences with personality disordered persons in their lives, and also have a vast range of experiences in life, some of which may well-align with our own.  I like to say that we all walk the same trail together, but each may be at different sections all along its path.  Some though, may be at very similar places in life and experiences, and those connections made, can be very valuable.  You are not alone!

You will probably meet people here who similarly share in your experiences. Along with the camaraderie and growing friendships, Out of the FOG is a great place to educate yourself further and also find many resources to assist.  Speaking of resources, please check out the resources tab at the upper right portion of this page.  There may be some topics located there, which provide you some useful contacts should you desire or need.

As you have now registered and introduced yourself here at the Welcome Mat board, I invite you, as we walk this trail together, to pull up a chair around the warming campfire discussions of all the forum boards. Your input into the discussions will provide wonderful value to the fruitful conversations as we come alongside each other.

Lastly, I will also point you to the toolbox tab to the left of the resources tab.  Its a fantastic, level place to pitch a tent for understanding, education and implementation. See you around the boards!
