Oh dear, the mask has slipped

So we had a bad wave of storms sweep through, and one of them brought a very large tree down into my grandmother's house. It went through the roof, through the ceiling, and through a wall. There is a massive hole and associated water damage in the house.
Thankfully no one got hurt, although there is massive property damage. Yes this is a rather chaotic situation and considering none of us have ever had a tree come down like this before, there was some confusion over exactly who does one call to have a very large, downed tree removed.
Grandma was never much good when her precious routine was interrupted, and this was a large and destructive interruption. But this has taken the cake, she was sitting in the living room demanding to be comforted while we're trying to salvage her caregiver's belongings (it had crashed right through caregiver's room). Mom's reaction was "Really?".
Given the fact that the house is less than inhabitable now, she's going to need to move out. Here has already been ruled out as an option, it's not safe. So it looks like this might finally push her into assisted living, she's needed that higher level of care for years and has stubbornly fought it.

Despite how much she openly wants mom to move in with her, mom's drawn that boundary. And we've got no bathroom that a walker will work in. Grandma's been whining and complaining more than usual before the tree came down, resisted every attempt to fix the situation on grounds of oh that makes more work for mom (bouncing checks doesn't make less work), and so on.

  This reads like a true sign.  It is time.  No one can deny it.  The decision was made due to the tree that could not weather through another storm...

So I think she's considering assisted living (hooray!), but there's a 2-month wait list, and that house isn't safe. She didn't want to move and then move again, but that's going to have to be what happens. She seemed more coherent and engaged, so hopefully this awful waifiness she's been doing will not make a re-appearance. It's like she goes limp, and every little single task is too much. I have no idea if it's the anxiety talking or the PD, but I don't want to hear it. I recently had to testify against a former employer in court, it wasn't easy but I did it and I survived.
