So we all know what Gold Diggers are.  Women who are willing to partner with nothing in common much older very rich men for the money/lifestyle/security.

I am seeing what I am going to to call a Will Sniffer.  Similar.  This guy is not hanging around to help with the fence and cleanup job needed.  Or even really for family events although he does use those.  No this is a cousin that keeps coming around to butter up to the likely Narc mother in law.  It is really creepy.  From the outside I see it clear as day.  He wants something.  He wants in the Will it feels like.

Anyone else have this in their family?? - She is in good health but her husband did pass away so.

Stbx suddenly started receiving daily communications from a long lost aunt after a family member died. She immediately ceased contact upon learning she was a. Not in the will and b. Had no legal claim whatsoever to any of the estate. Talk about showing your true colors!

My brother's first wife was likely BPD, and after their divorce their daughter lived with her and their son spent time between both parents.  When my narc mother moved back to the area where they lived (after my father's death since they'd retired to live in another state) I noticed that they were never around, we never saw them. This was the case for several years, until my mother started into physical and mental decline and then, suddenly, they were around.  The kindly interpretation is that they knew she didn't have much longer to live and they wanted to spend time with her, but my gut told me that their PD mother was behind this sudden, new behavior.

In this case, my mother's narcissism worked in her favor, since she was well aware of their previous lack of attention so was naturally suspicious of why they were now coming around.  She gave no one the benefit of the doubt, once she made up her mind about something it was made up for eternity, and this niece and nephew were no exception.  After she died they got nothing.  And that's probably the last I will ever see of them (well, the niece didn't bother to show up for the funeral after she learned she couldn't have mom's car since it had already been sold...)

my mom (uPD) did this by offering herself as a night companion to her parents' elderly friends who when departed, my mother always got something out of it ($$$, furniture)  I think you are spot on sunshine.

Invisiblewoman

I think my brother did this. He went on a smear towards me and had everything set up so only he was present at my mother's cremation.

Yes, I am very familiar with the Will Sniffer.
Don't let the narcs get you down!
