I know we can't go into specifics here regarding legal proceedings. But wanted to post that paperwork has been filed, lawyers have been hired, and the divorce is officially in progress.

Of course, things are not going as smoothly as I'd hoped, but at least I'm not surprised. This is not my first divorce, but legally more complicated this time around. Sad to say, but child custody and child support were easier to negotiate with ex-uNPDh #1 than property division will be with stbx-uNPDh #2. But... this is what stbx and I are each paying our lawyers to sort out.

So, trying not to stress too much over the divorce process. I will continue focusing on the joys of PD-free life on my own. Experienced a few recent challenges and setbacks (unrelated to stbx, at least!) but I handled them. And now an exciting new development has come up career-wise, reminding me to stay the course.

In summary... Wish me luck, I'm going in.

I hear ya - I stressed out ALOT during my divorce.  I don't trust the system and not even my own lawyer.

I used to have mini panic attacks every time my lawyer called or emailed me.

Remind yourself that once it's done, you will feel so relieved.  And with time, the ridiculousness of the divorce proceedings will not feel so bad.

Good luck.

Poison Ivy

Wishing you good luck and as smooth a divorce as is possible.

Thank you, Poison Ivy and PlantFlowersNotWeeds. The past few months had been peaceful, but now I'm waking up with that familiar ball of anxiety and dread in my stomach every morning. At least those peaceful months gave me time to rest and recharge before the divorce started. But strangely, it means I am also out of practice using The Tools. Which is kinda nice to be out of practice, but I'm definitely heading back to the ol' toolshed to re-familiarize myself.

Congratulations on getting it started, SeaBreeze.  My hope for you is that is goes as smoothly as possible.

And, YES, it's so fun and relaxing to not have to use the tools in our healthy relationships!  I was with a friend a few days ago and she brought up a topic on which we turned out to have different opinions.  No one came unglued!  We actually enjoyed listening to each other to learn more about the others thinking.  The difference between a good, healthy relationship and a PD relationship is so striking when you're going back and forth between them.

The path of no eggshells or landmines, where we can be free to be ourselves with others.  We all deserve that!  Good luck, SeaBreeze!
