So I have been with my partner for nearly 8years now, we are both widowed both have kids that are grown and grandchildren both are well over 60.  I have complained about him numerous times on this site his unwillingness or just plain phobianess to try anything remotely different. I have accepted him the way he is (anxiety ridden) but it's still hard.  I still think about leaving him but don't want to start over with someone else, don't really want to be with anyone else, I'm too old he's too old we are both set in our ways, I want to live more want to go places but find myself settling into his way of life.  We do love each other, and he knows the way he is is hard on me but still is unwilling to do the simpilist of change.  I do things without him but I want a partner to do things with, it is hard.  Should I still pursue the odd request from myself to go somewhere different or should I just give up?????

Hi there ! I think it is a question of acceptance of reality, the challenge of knowing yourself really well, and taking good care of yourself. I find if I deny myself a lot I feel low and without energy.
I can't hate my way into loving myself.
