I am finding the techniques described in this video so helpful in breaking out of what my therapist calls the "trauma swirl" -- even though the video is aimed at chronic anxiety and not handling trauma per se. It's by Emma McAdam, who is a LMFT, and it's part of her online course Break the Anxiety Cycle in 30 Days. The videos are available on her Youtube channel, Therapy In A Nutshell, for free; you don't have to pay for the course unless you want to.

The app Emma recommends in the video, called Lotus Bud, I believe is an app for iPhone. I found a corresponding app for Android, called the Mindfulness Bell. I've been using it for a month as Emma recommends, set to every 15 minutes the first week and then 20 minutes. It's helped me so much to get back on an even keel and handle the ups and downs of life, and my emotions, so much better. I've been sleeping better, getting up feeling refreshed, and I have more energy.

I hope it helps you too!
