This page has videos (which I have not watched) and practices (which I read some of) on overcoming our brains' inherent negativity bias. So far the practices are very helpful for calming myself and appreciating the good things in the world.

I mention to my DD when I see things working out or ways unenjoyable things weren't that bad or maybe even fun in a way. I don't shove it down her throat, just say things like "hey, that actually worked out great" or "it sucks we have to wait so long but I'm actually having a good time with you anyway." Over time she started embracing those ideas.

Today, we went for a walk and got caught in a pouring rain. Soaked to the skin. We were not entirely sure how happy we were about it but it ended up being fun.

We ran an errand to a store which is difficult to turn left out of (lots of traffic, no light). Today there was an opening within 20 seconds and she verbally high fived herself for "eating" (this is good) the turn.

And our grocery shop cost less than expected, and we named all the stuff we scored on that shop and marvelled at it.

I just feel better celebrating any wins. They don't have to be big. The more you notice them, the more you notice them.

This is great square! I live in the desert and learned that I love taking walks in the rain!
