NPD parents and food poisoning

I'm not happy writing this but I need to comfront this issue. My NPD parents always had a weird relationship with food. They'd give us, kids food that wasn't healthy for us. I remember I'd throw up from the food they'd make or feel bad in general. They don't cook healthier food for themselves and give us only the worst scraps.

They ALSO eat the bad food and then, they feel bad, have stomach problems and issues with health. Then, they ask themselves why are they sick. They go to the doctor's for their diabetes or stomach/colon issues but they continue to eat bad/unhealthy food.

Now, my poor aunt died this May. I didn't know her well but I suspect she also had NPD. I had a few interactions with her when I was in school and she'd yell at me if I didn't listen to her or got bad grades.
Anyway, this aunt died due to colon problems. When my family went to her place to take the food that was left in the fridge (I wouldn't do that, btw-I find it weird to take the leftover food from someone who died). They saw that ALL the food she had in the house was EXPIRED. I asked my mom what was going on with my aunt and she said: 'Your aunt ate expired food all her life, that's how she was.'

Ok, mom takes all that expired food and stuffs it in OUR fridge. I then ask her: is this expired food you want me to eat? She says, yes it is but it's expired only by a few months. LOL. GUESS WHAT? My mom and dad BOTH ate that expired food. Idk if they got sick and don't care.

They wanted me to get food poisoning from eating expired food that my aunt ate (which caused her colon to fail). These people are dangerous and they stop at nothing to destroy their adult children, while also destroying their own health. This is proof that narcissists not only don't give a shit about their kids but they dismiss their own well-being as well.

Is this a financial issue?   I know many well-adjusted people who grew up with minimal means and do the same thing.

It wasn't a thing in my PD FOO.   But, definitely was for my father's family.   His mother was a terrible cook.   She also had weird rules about eating what she prepared, cleaning your plate etc.   My parents were mostly healthy about not forcing me to eat if I was't hungry.   But his mom, my grandmother,  would make horrible food and expect you to sit there until the plate was clean if my parents weren't around to stop that.

They're adults.   You're not going to be able to affect what they choose to do with their bodies.   But you don't have to eat it.   I won't eat expired stuff.   Ended up with Salmonella, not from expired food - but a restaurant.   I don't ever risk it.   I've never felt so sick.

Yes, it's definitely a financial issue. My parents grew up in Communism (meaning, there was ALWAYS a food shortage-they would wake up at 5 to go and wait in line for a loaf of bread or eggs) so it affected them-my aunt, as well. As a kid, I was expected to eat everything on my plate as well, it was frustrating. I was forced to eat stuff I didn't want and was not given nutritious food (eg vegetables, good protein). Mom would cook or buy sweets almost daily and expected me to eat that crap. As a kid I thought it was cool but as an adult..so gross. Giving your kids sugary and extra fatty foods (eg: pork meat cooked with grease, sausages and salami and lots of cheese) is just bad.

Yes, they're adults, thx for pointing that out. And I need to watch them flush their health down the toilet. Thank God I will be cutting ties with them so I won't have to worry about these things.

My Narcm is like this.  To this day I won't eat anything she cooks (or half cooks). She gets enjoyment from watching us suffer (get sick) at her hands.  Brother got food poisoning more than once when we were kids from Narcm's cooking.  She has left food on the countertop far too long and demanded that we eat it.  She gave me a used (I.e. half eaten) fruit tray with the price ripped off but she missed the "sell by" date sticker, the fruit looked a bit odd because it was almost 3 weeks old.  I toss her food gifts in the bin after she visits.  I seriously think the food thing is all about power and control.
