Recently, I came across Rebecca C. Mandeville's work on a term that she coined, which is "Family Scapegoating Abuse" or "FSA." She is a licensed psychotherapist and has written a book about the topic, but also has Substack and YouTube accounts. I've never before read work by someone who really pinpoints what it is to be the scapegoat in a malignantly dysfunctional family. Pete Walker and a few others do an excellent job of this, but Mandeville really gets at the heart of how bullied the scapegoat is, as well as how there are families that function similarly to cults.

Here's the link to her book on Amazon, which is titled "Rejected, Shamed, and Blamed: Help and Hope for Adults in the Family Scapegoate Role": https://www.amazon.com/Rejected-Shamed-Blamed-Adults-Scapegoat-ebook/dp/B08GPVSDDV?ref_=ast_author_mpb

Thank you! Her list of Youtube videos looks interesting and informative. I'll be checking this out.

That's great and I hope it helps you! I've been reading her book on Kindle and also watching her videos. While I think that previous work on abuse by narcissistic parents is key, this new work on Family Scapegoating Abuse (FSA) is so poignant for those of us who are the targets, especially when we're dealing with very malignant treatment that is so hard to understand or to prove that it's happening to society.
