Such obvious timing

Since 2020, ds (now 18) has lived with his uNPD father and uNPD smother during the weeks and been with me on the weekends.  Now that court orders no longer apply he can of course choose when he wants to be where.

They live in a 2 bedroom apartment a few kilometres from the main city.

During 5 years since ds moved in with them, the uNPD smother has been stating her desire to have a pet dog.  Her choice of breed is large and energetic. This has always, as I understand from ds, been refused by his uNPD father, due to the impracticalities of the living arrangements and the fact that they both work long hours.  I'm actually really surprised that she listened to him since she very much has him under her thumb.

Well, hey presto!  The night of Ds's 18th birthday, she bought a puppy of the breed that she wants.  They pick it up tomorrow.

Her timing is impeccable.  I can only assume that uNPD exH has relented because he realises he needs a hook to keep ds there instead of him coming to see me.

I so desperately want to tell ds that I see right through the timing and manipulation.  I don't intend to tell him.  I can only hope that he sees it himself.

I live in a house with a backyard and right near a forest and other areas less busy than the city environment - a far better (in my opinion) situation for a pet dog.  However, I live alone, am out for long periods of time and don't have the money for expensive vet and pet food bills.  I don't think it would be right for me to have one, despite actually wanting one.

Oh well.

LOL, maybe they need something new to fight about, now that your son might not be there as much.

8-)  I hadn't actually thought that, but had thought along similar lines.  I've often wondered how much longer their marriage will last once ds is independent and living elsewhere.  I suspect she will leave him as he's scared of her, and he has no confidence to  be on his own and do the hard things of life himself.  It's actually quite sad to see.

Or she needs a dependent creature to be alpha dog over. Whatever.
