Compulsive Lying

One of my relatives tried to falsely accuse my mom of being complicit in getting my CSA case dropped.

I think they told me this lie because they wanted to possess and control me and my story.

It seemed like a classic narc move, where they had very important information I needed to know, and made themselves the centre of attention. They portrayed themselves as a tireless truth seeker who had my best interests in mind.

That couldn't have been further from the truth.

They had no idea I had gotten a record of the court documents that clearly stated my abuser was convicted, and my mom was not complicit. I didn't attend his hearing because he willingly pled guilty.

I don't know why they'd tell untruths about my own experiences. On top of that they had zero respect for me and portrayed me as deceptive and attention seeking.

I caught them in a lie, and pointed out the discrepancy, and they completely tore my character apart. They said I had lied, and then claimed I lied about some of my abuse. They also attacked my mental health status, then threatened to charge me with harassment for questioning them.

Their behaviour was laughably hypocritical to me.

It's disturbing and hard to talk about because I don't want to give them an emotional reaction or any energy that they can use. I figure they lied pretty badly and nothing is off limits for them to go after, which is a little alarming.

Is that person still in your life and do they have to be?
I can't hate my way into loving myself.

No. Keeping a distance. Decided complete no contact is best. Their behaviour is infuriating.

Indeed. And hurtful. You are doing the right thing and protect yourself from further abuse.
I can't hate my way into loving myself.

I suspect some of them engage in this type of behavior because they regard it as some type of game, and they want to play.  They "win" by getting a personal satisfaction from what they've done.  And if they do it once, they'll do it again because it's become part of who they are.  Definitely best to avoid them from now on (as much as possible) because they regard you as a resource.
