Hello everyone,

I'm obviously new, as I'm here to say hi and introduce myself.

A bit about my situation with people who have PD's: my father had NPD w/ASPD traits (diagnosed) and my mother had BPD, HPD, DPD and bipolar disorder (diagnosed). Both also were alcoholic and both have passed away in the past 3 years.

Having been raised by two people whose conscience was sporadic and whose abuse was constant, this impacted me in terms of the choices I made in bosses, friends and most importantly intimate partners.

I now have C-PTSD and a variety of chronic physical illnesses after escaping and starting over more times than I care to admit.

What brought me here and what has brought me to my most hopeless, is a 5 year relationship with a man who either has NPD w/ASPD traits or who is a narcissistic sociopath. The jury seems to still be out on that by mental health providers.

I don't know where I can post more of my story on the forum, but I am seeking help and support. So, I guess I'll. poke around the forum a bit before posting more.

In the meantime, if anyone on here was involved with a partner who engaged in both covert and overt abuse while they simultaneously lived a double life who then left you, please message me.

Wishing everyone healing

lifeworthliving - a warm welcome to you! I am thankful you have found this community of fellow travelers, and yet my heart aches to think that after enduring an abusive childhood you find yourself recovering from a man who harmed you further. I am so very sorry!

To tell you a bit about us...we have resources and a toolbox at the drop down menus above. We also have other recommended online resources found here: Other Online Resources

Great book recommendations found here: Book Reviews

But, the solid gold I have found is in the conversations taking place on the sub forums. There is something in seeing similar experiences in the words of others that, though we would never wish these things on another, brings healing and insights like nothing else I have ever experienced in my own healing journey.

My hope is you find that to be true for you, too. We have several sub forums that may be a good fit for you. Take a look around and see what seems to align with the relationship(s) you are wanting to share about and when you are ready, join the conversations.

Since you mention you have C-ptsd as a result of you experiences another wonderful resource that many participate in along with Out of the FOG is our sister site Out of the Storm, where you can share and engage as well.

Take your time, settle in. I look forward to supporting you and seeing you around the forum boards!
