Had a medical appointment - necessary but unpleasant- and there will be more after this.   I was feeling a little sorry for myself, when recalled how awful it would have been with xnpdh- it would have triggered his imaginary diseases and all sorts of unpleasant behaviour.
Instead I am free, a little lonely but at peace. Smiling at the contrast.

gentle hugs @Breadroll - its funny in how the darkest of times in our struggles, we are still better off without some people in our lives.

Thanks redshoes - it's a feeling of happiness that he can't get to me...
The " competitive illness" was quite a feature in xnpdh, he probably still does it.

Interesting - I had that conversation with a close friend yesterday, so experiencing similar feelings here. I'm having eye issues and asked her to drive me, I was so humbled that she simply stepped up when asked. She offered help and compassion after rather than some redirect to how her stuff was worse.

It is indeed a comfort, not having to compete. Take good care of yourself.

Thanks moglow - exactly that!
Your friend sounds normal and kind- healing in itself

Medical appointments can be very psychologically trying on top of the actual medical issues. I am glad that you are able to deal with this alongside someone kind and supportive (yourself) rather than coping with your ex's bad behaviour. I hope the medical treatment goes well and you are better soon.
Don't let the narcs get you down!

Thanks NarcKiddo - yes, the waiting rooms and strangers, and the mechanics of examinations - require self soothing- but much better without a pd in the wings 😎

Sending you hugs and healing as you go through all of it. I remember so much of my time comforting my exhusband/narc while I was ongoing treatment for cancer. Now I go to the appointments it is so much easier to just care for myself. Feels so much easier and I have a better attitude.  :bighug:

thankyou JKT- glad you are also free, and hope it's all worked out well for you - hugs and healing all round x
