So hard to make an appointment!

Have any of you found it difficult to get medical care you need? I think I need to go to a chiropractor, but I've never been to one before, and I keep fearing that they won't believe me or I'm just wasting my time and money. I feel kind of crazy. So I just keep putting off calling. I've dealt with the issues at hand pretty much my whole life anyway so whatever... But of course I don't want to be that way anymore. Anybody relate? I know I just need to make the dang call and try one appointment and see how it goes.

Yes. I put off seeking medical care for a cold that turned into a chest infection for so long that I ended up hospitalised for two weeks with pneumonia! I do not recommend that approach!

Yes, I find it difficult to make any medical type of appointment. I have had what I thought were regular exams that turned into so much more that I feel like I almost have ptsd related to it.

Especially true for first appointments.  What country are you in, Cordelia?

USA. Still haven't called. I did get a recommendation from a friend for one who is good, however.

Speaking as a chiropractic patient (in the U.S) let me assure you that chiropractors are some of the most open-minded caregivers out there who will truly listen to what you have to say and do what they can to help. (To the point chiropractic care is questioned by some as being legit or not!) I personally have found it helpful. It can be pricy the first few visits, but chiropractors also often offer payment plans, cash discounts, etc since health insurance traditionally doesn't cover much of it. At least my chiropractors truly seemed to want to help their clients! You have to start with a consult, so I'd suggest scheduling that initial consult to see what the chiro says and what you think! (Hint: a good one will requests X-rays, or even take X-rays themselves at their office.)
