I've noticed this topic in a couple threads recently and it's something my trauma therapist keeps encouraging me to work on. I think it is a very hard thing to learn for people who've suffered abuse from childhood and/or for a long time as adults. I took this free online self-paced course and it helped some.

Another thing that's been recommended to me is the RAIN meditation. There are a couple versions floating around:

Tara Brach on the RAIN meditation

Good luck y'all, I hope it helps.
