I have collected these over time. They seem to help a bit with shortening or neutralizing a PD rage spiral. Full disclosure, I have not had occasion to deploy some of them. Enjoy!

1) "That's your opinion, not a fact."
2) "I'm not explaining myself again."
3) "That's not about me."
4) "You're allowed to be upset."
5) "Let's stick to one topic."
6) "I'm not interested in arguing. I'm interested in solutions."
7) "I'm okay with you not understanding me."

I'm responsible only for what I say, not what you understand." ~John Wayne

These are a lot like what Susan Forward talks about in her book.  I will have to keep them on hand!

these are very logical responses to a Narc's toxic attacks, but in my experience they will skirt around these logical retorts with another attack angle against you, usually they will bring up some past thing you've done thats embarassing to you and change the whole dynamic of your logical defense with these statements. best thing to do if you can is just get as far away from them as possible, that's if you can at this time

Thanks for sharing! Some of these sound simple but effective.

However, regarding statement #1...  during one of my first arguments with ex-uNPDh #2, I started to get the hint he was wired VERY differently after I tried to explain to a grown man the difference between a fact and an opinion. He informed me, in all seriousness, that because his opinion was based on fact, whereas my opinion was apparently based on what he viewed as non-facts, that his opinion was fact and therefore correct but I was just plain wrong.  Pretty much was how most of our arguments and even "normal conversations" went the next several years before I learned to disengage. *dry laugh/sigh*

I do agree though, the less we say, the less of a hole we dig with PDs and their distorted "logic"...

#6 is going in my 'good things to say to respond to work situations" along with 'let's refresh that browser"

I'm nodding as I'm reading this.  In my experience too.
