If this mother's love is the best there is, stop the world I want to get off. Fortunately, that's so not the truth and you are fortunate enough know it!

I don't think I will respond. The 'I am sorry' part refers to my 'I don't feel like talking to you' part - at least this is what is implied by the way the message was structured. I am also translating and 'I am terribly sorry' is not the best translation, come to think of it. What she said has more the meaning of 'I am grieved' or 'this causes me pain' (I can't find the exact equivalent in English). It's not an expression of apology. It's just an acknowledgement that something hurt her.

Susan Forward says in her book "Mothers Who Can't Love", an appropriate response to "No one will love you the way your mother will", is "I certainly hope not".
