my narc brother had a major stroke and has limited mobility and cannot speak and has caused all kinds of issues at the facilities he has been staying with the staff. and has been triangulating his 2 family members who are major enablers to be at the hospital care facility almost 24/7 days a week. so recently both enablers needed some time off or stop by the facility at a later time in the day, but no go for the narc there he has wrangled the nurses there to call the mother who is a major narc also and now he is crying and whining that mommy needs to come over there right now because is in pain :violin: and is causing a problem at the facility, now the other 2 enablers are trying to drag me into this when ive told them i didnt want anything to do with this mess and it was his own doing that put himself there because he has diabetes ans never took it seriously for years, now the consequences are his. so i am trying to stay out of this mess but the enablers are applying major pressure to me to get involved and i dont want to, the narc brother is projecting his toxic behavior from the hospital bed trying to drag me into his pit of misery. any suggestions or wisdom on this are welcome.

"No" is a full sentence. If that seems too abrupt, say, "I can't."

There's also the good old standby, "Gotta go the dog's on fire."

Really just don't entertain these conversations. You're not going, they won't accept your boundaries, but really just all the back and forth is its own drama and supply.

You are opting out? Wonderful. You go right ahead and do just that. The enablers, especially those willing to go to great lengths to get you back in line, are really really not going to validate that choice. But why would we expect that? If they were capable of respecting your boundaries and of having good boundaries of their own, you wouldn't be in this scenario with them. Boundaries aren't a statement, they are for you to act upon. You have a boundary about what you are and are not willing to endure with your brother, and you get to have that with everybody else too.

You can choose to be, "Sir Not Appearing in This Film," but you have to stick to that script.  :umbrella:

spot on advice and thanks for the response too because in my case im basically alone outside this cyber world/forum that really understands these toxic narc people and how to navigate life in these relationships, i think these enablers think if we can get him to do this once we can get him again and again and again because his empathy and our pressure/punish will crack him. these people are dark energy sources and want to drag everyone into the pit of misery they have created for themselves :sadno:
