Why is there a message on my member name about showing IP address?

Hi,

Today when I was replying to a couple of people who's commented on a recent post, I noticed that beneath my member name, there is a message:  "Show IP address."  I don't remember seeing that before.  Why is that there, and how can I remove it?

Thank you for your help!

Hi countrygirl,

I'm not a moderator, so I don't know if this answer is right. But, I noticed, in the place where it says "Show IP Address" under my name next to my posts, it says "Logged" on other posters. I clicked on this, and a message popped up:

"Your IP address is shown only to you and moderators. Remember
that this information is not identifying, and that most IPs change periodically.

You cannot see other members' IP addresses, and they cannot see yours."

So I'm thinking the board tracks IP addresses for purposes perhaps of banning spammers or other abusive posters.

I don't think you can remove this from your posts; I'm guessing it's set at the board admin level.

I hope this helps!
