Happypants

Just wondered if anyone else has read the above book by Stan Taylor?  I've come across it a few times and it seems to be a one-off claiming to teach people how to rise above manipulation, but it seems to value turning emotional empathy into cognitive empathy (that's set off alarm bells for me).  I'm not sure if it's alternative wording for a form of emotional distancing.  Many positive responses to it (as much as you can tell from social media promotion, again, alarm bells!).  Clearly I'm a little dubious, but just looking for any experiences with this book here.

I've exhausted a lot of resources specifically aboutbeing the family scapegoat (which have been helpful!) and am looking for something that goes further or takes a different approach  into breaking down some of the manipulative behaviours of controlling parents within dysfunctional family dynamics.

Call Me Cordelia

I haven't heard of it but looked it up on Goodreads. The whole premise of the book is alarm bells for me. Quoting from memory: "You create beliefs to serve your own agenda. Create emotional dependencies..." No. No thank you. The whole thing smacks of relativism and as the title suggests, something quite dark. It's teaching you these techniques to use for your own ends vs. recovering from their use against you.

Call Me Cordelia - thanks for taking a look.  Yes, I think I'll skip it.
