So my dad died on Wednesday and my stepmother told me about it on Thursday. Since then, I have heard nothing. My cousins haven't reached out to me. My aunt has not reached out to me. I know my aunt is with my stepmother and I don't know who else I am not involved in the funeral plans. I am involved in nothing. I am told nothing. I am just left to grieve all alone. I do not know if I will be left. Anything in the will or how to go about finding out about the funeral or anything else. All I ever did was try to be in my father's life. I loved him so much, but my stepmother hated me and always kept me away from him. It feels so weird to be the only child of this man and have nobody tell me what's going on. Has anything like this happened to any of you? Does anyone have any advice? By law will I have to be informed about his will, etc.? Being his only child?

You may not have to be informed....it will depend on your local laws and what might be stated in his will.   In my state, everything goes to the spouse upon death.

I've not been through this yet....but it is coming for me.   I've never met my stepmother.   NC with Dad and VLC with mom.

I'm sorry for your loss.   It is such a complicated grief going through this with an estranged family.   Best advice is to maybe get a free consultation with an attorney AND most of all, take care of yourself has you navigate the emotions of this.

Mermaidsdaughter78 - I responded on your other post, but here I want to ask a question... do you want to know what the plans are? Would you participate in a service/mass/memorial type of event if you did know?
The most powerful people are peaceful people.

The truth will set you free if you believe it.
