Karma, Justice, or do their "bad deeds" circle back to them?

Blueberry Pancakes

I know this topic has been posted in other areas, but I could not readily find it. For all the behaviors your siblings, extended family and other enablers did - does any of it ever circle back to them in any way? If so, does it circle back in equal measure to what they did? I am not referring to the afterlife, but in this physical lifetime.

Perhaps many of us will never know because we are no contact. Mostly it seems they do their dirty little deeds, reap the benefits, walk off feeling triumphant and go about their merry lives more emboldened for having gotten away with it all.

Sometimes I feel like I was a witness to a crime that will go unsolved. I do not believe the legal system, attorneys, or even social services are structured in ways that allow these particular offenses to be adequately adjudicated. So, that just leaves "life" to occur.

I know focusing on my own good life is the best path forward regardless of whatever organic justice may occur. I saw a story in the news where someone got away with one crime, but years later get convicted of something totally different that he never saw coming. I found that interesting, but then I do not believe life handles things so evenly or deliberately.

I was just wondering what others may think about this. Peace to everyone.

Gosh, Blueberry, it does feel like they just do what they want, hurt people, and then go on their merry way.  I've had similar thoughts, and it's maddening.
I try to keep reminding myself that my sib is just "not well".  She isn't.  And yes, it mostly looks like she got the last word.  She humiliated me in front of my family.  She wrote the scathing letter and I read it and didn't reply.  Yep, she sure did.
But I wouldn't trade my life for hers.  Even though she appears happy.  She's married and seems even joyful.  I have to believe that she is living her karma, her destiny, and that it is none of my business.  I am living mine, and it is all mine and she can't have it.  I have to let it go, as much as I can, or else I will be miserable trying to even the score.  And then she wins....and I know it's not really a competition, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't care if she wins.
It's surreal, I think, this thing that we've gone through. It's sort of like a bad dream to me.  Like....why did I have to endure this?  why me?
I don't know.  I really don't.  And I'm going to have to give it all over to a "higher power"....I'm agnostic, so not sure what the higher power is.  I just know I've done all I can.
This is so difficult, and I have to remind myself nearly EVERY DAY that I can't control it or cure it and I didn't cause it.
All of us who have been through this hellscape deserve peace.  And I hope that one way or the other we all find it.

I am pretty sure in the case of my uNPD mother that she does not live a merry life. She goes to great lengths to make it appear so but I think a large part of that is to persuade herself she is good and valuable. She has occasionally remarked to me in a weak moment that she hates herself and would end her days if only she was brave enough. I wouldn't want to be her, even if it all looks marvellous on the surface.
Don't let the narcs get you down!

I think most of the PDs are pretty miserable inside themselves.

It's what drives the abuse and PD to start with.  It's why they create the false personality.

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I feel like that too. I don't think that my sister will ever get into trouble for the horrible things she did, but she is miserable and will always be, so that's a form of punishment.

Thank you, everyone. I guess I am not the only one who thinks about this from time to time.

One constant aspect noted here I think is relevant is about having a life that is your own. I think that is a very good thing. Probably, actually, the best thing.

This is a good reminder to me about where my focus should remain. Thanks.

Other people have said similar things, and I too think the punishment is that they have to live with themselves.  Going to the lengths that they do proves they aren't happy and don't have actual peace.  I'm a firm believer in the adage that "the best revenge is a life well lived."
