I have been in that exact situation many times over when kids were younger, and wish i was Out of the FOG like you are now, so i could have avoided the exhausting trap.

So she asked me again, in front of the kids if I am going with them, I am politely saying no without giving a reason (I have many reasons but don't feel obliged to give one). She keeps asking, GC starts shouting at me why I am not coming. In the end they both walks off and stbx moans that I keep tramping on her child hood memories (she used to this trip when she was a child).  So tiring but so glad I can see straight now.
