Sibling tried to friend me
« on: March 04, 2021, 05:00:51 PM »
A few months ago my sibling tried to connect with me on LinkedIn. I ignored it.
Then one of our parents died and they didn't tell me (or ask the funeral director to).  I ignored it.
Now they have friend requested me on a social site.

The reason I don't want to respond is that this person is *chaotic* in their behaviour.
I have another just like them.   How does it make sense to make casual contact
every few months and then leave a death unmentioned?

Just venting I guess, but comments welcome.  Hubby does not really understand why
I don't accept the request, he just can't see the harm that can result.  Or he enjoys discussing
the results......

But I know there will be a cost to refusing (or blocking them) as well  :(

PS I do plan to block them, but after a week or so so it doesn't seem so aggressive.

AlisonWonder - a sibling not letting you know of the death of one of your parents and then requesting to connect on SM or Linkedin is a head spinning mixed message. Incongruence to this degree would be enough for me to keep the status quo of distance in place and ignore the request. Just validating your own thoughts and my .02 for what it is worth.

Bloomie, thank you so much.  I seem surrounded by PD people IRL and it is so easy to lose sight of what is normal.  I feel stronger after your message.
