Scribbles

I am here because a friend recommended this site.  Over the years I have realized that I am dealing with several people in my life that have some form or another of PD.  I've spent years simply withdrawing or just trying to keep the peace within those relationships.   I've never really had a discussion with anyone about things I deal with or how I am truly feeling.  I tend to stay really  guarded.  I just put a smile on my face and stay busy.  I'm learning that is a reaction to some sort of trauma or negative experience and probably isn't really healthy.  I am married to someone I believe suffers from childhood trauma and also has tendencies to be narcissistic.  This behavior has affected our children in different ways.  They are young adults and live on their own but I see alot of things with their life choices and behaviors that stem from childhood.   It's nice to see so many people willing to share, support and offer advice to others.  Hopefully, I can learn and grow from being a member here,  I am still not quite sure what it is I am needing or looking for but I do know I am ready to start that journey.

welcome to the group scribbles,

i'm sorry that your experiences with folks with PD have brought you here but at the same time i am glad you are reaching out and looking to make some personal growth in your understanding of PD/uPD and how it can affect people and their relationships.

a great place to start is the toolbox-  i use the strategies there whenever i have to deal with difficult personalities, whether i think they may be PD or not.
